About
Lisa Hastreiter-Lamb is an artist who works in oil paint, charcoal, paper, and mixed media. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Lisa moved to Minneapolis, MN to attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where she earned a BFA in painting and drawing. While an undergrad, she participated in the Alliance of Independent Colleges of Art’s New York Studio School independent study program. It was in NYC that she found her artistic voice when she learned to allow the process of painting to guide her narrative. This steered her toward the genre of magical realism.
Lisa moved to Arizona in 1992 to pursue an MFA from the University of Arizona. During Graduate School, Lisa leaned into sumptuous brushwork solidifying her painting technique.
Lisa lives in Southern AZ where she maintains her studio practice. She has exhibited in numerous group shows both locally and nationally and has several pieces in private collections. Alongside her studio practice, Lisa is an art educator.
Artist's Statement
Creating is a spiritual act for me similar to prayer and mediation. I am an oil painter who also loves to draw, and work with paper and mixed media. The subject matter of my work is rooted in my spiritual quest to accept the struggles of the human condition and to grow spiritually. My work often has a mystical or magical feel.
